Bill Analysis

SJR 27 is a constitutional amendment that would prohibit the state or any local government from taking any action that would limit or prohibit religious services in this state. Should the amendment be passed by the legislature, it would be submitted to voters for consideration in the November 2, 2021 election. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SJR 27 for limiting government and increasing individual liberty. The free exercise of religion is a core liberty protected by the First Amendment which the state is obligated to protect and defend.
