Bill Analysis

SB 932 would require the Texas Department of Public Safety, in coordination with local law enforcement agencies, to establish and administer a border operations training program for peace officers. Peace officers who elect to take the course would be able to assist other law enforcement agencies in the interdiction, investigation, and prosecution of criminal activity in the Texas-Mexico border region. Peace officers who completed the training would not be eligible for additional compensation in assisting these other agencies, however the training hours would be eligible to be credited toward continuing education requirements.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 932.
