Bill Analysis

SB 713 would modify the sunset review schedule for numerous agencies, offices, and authorities. The bill would require a special-purpose review of the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for the 88th Legislature. Texas A&M Forest Service would be removed from sunset review.

Certain limited reviews would be eliminated from sunset review including the Health and Human Services Commission, Department of State Health Services, Department of Family and Protective Services, and the HHSC's Office of Inspector General.

The bill would also update procedures for sunset review during a declared disaster to allow the Sunset Commission to exempt from review an agency from certain portions of the sunset review act that the commission determines unable to participate in the review due to a declared disaster.
