Bill Analysis

SB 700 would extend the life of the Parks and Wildlife Department by twelve years and would require a more thorough training program on the roles, scope and rules of the department. The department would have to maintain a system to promptly and efficiently act on complaints filed with the department. The agency would also be required to evaluate the progress on its land and water resources conservation and recreation plan every 5 years.

The bill would require the commission to adopt a policy to guide the prioritization of inspections for certain licensed activity based on risk to the state’s natural resources.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 700.
