Bill Analysis

SB 385 would allow the Tarrant County Hospital District rights to sell or license technology or intellectual property that is owned by or licensed to the district or a nonprofit formed by the district, enter into a contract to provide services related to such technology or intellectual property and to take necessary action to protect or benefit from the exclusivity of the technology and intellectual property owned by the district. The bill would exempt from public disclosure any information prepared for or complied by this district relating to the development of technology or intellectual property.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 385 copies current statute that pertains to Dallas County. While we do not have a position based on our liberty principles, we urge the legislature to consider the implications of creating narrow and specific laws that do not uphold the value of equal treatment for everyone under the law.

Texas Action is neutral on SB 385.
