Bill Caption

Relating to disclosure requirements of certain facilities that provide care for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 383 would require nursing home facilities to provide a disclosure notice stating whether the facility is or is not certified to provide specialized care and treatment for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The disclosure would be required to be provided to each facility resident and each person applying for services from the facility or the person’s next of kin or guardian.

SB 383 would also require assisted living facilities to provide a disclosure notice regarding their licensure status to residents with Alzheimer's disease or related disorders.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 383 would create unnecessary new mandates for nursing homes and assisted living facilities, representing a growth of government on independent business. For this reason we oppose SB 383.
