Bill Caption
Relating to the completion of sexual harassment prevention training and ethics training to register as a lobbyist.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
SB 2233 would add new requirements for registration as a lobbyist in this state. Under the provisions of SB 2233, each person required to register as a lobbyist must attend a sexual harassment prevention training course and an ethics training course every two years, and submit a certificate for each of these required trainings as evidence of completion.
Vote Recommendation Notes
SB 2233 would violate the principles of limited government and individual liberty by adding new requirements in order to work as a registered lobbyist. This is similar to adding new requirements to licensed occupations, which we would also oppose. For these reasons, we oppose SB 2233.
