Bill Caption

Relating to the operation of a public school transportation system.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 204 would allow the board of trustees of a school to provide an economical public school transportation system to students served by the county system or enrolled in the school district but reside outside the county or district.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 204 on the principle of individual liberty. Removing the requirement for interlocal agreements between schools for transportation of a student attending a school from outside the district will give parents greater choice in education for their children.
