Bill Caption

Relating to the offense of operating certain vehicles without a license plate

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 2012 would provide an exemption to the two plate license plate requirement for vehicles that lack a dedicated area on the front bumper, due to the manufacturer failing to provide a location on the vehicle for placement of a front license.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Providing an exemption for those who have vehicles that the manufacturer simply did not provide a place for a front license plate could eliminate the potential extra expenses of modifying the vehicle to create a placement for these license plates.

However, since no liberty principles are directly impacted, Texas Action remains neutral on SB 2012.
