SB 197 would make the sale of an animal by a nonprofit animal welfare organization exempt from taxation.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Currently, nonprofit animal shelters do not charge sales tax on the fee to adopt an animal. SB 197 would expand this provision to include nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Texas Action is neutral SB 197.
