Bill Analysis

SB 1745 would establish a joint interim committee to conduct a study regarding colonias and to consider a number of issues such as updating the colonia classification system, assessing the definition of colonies across state agencies, adopting new metrics to track conditions in colonias, and reviewing impacts of COVID-19 on colonia residents, among other things.

This joint committee would have to prepare and submit a report to the legislature by September 1, 2022, and would be abolished on November 1, 2022.
