SB 1697 would allow parents or legal guardians the option of letting their children repeat a grade or certain courses if the child has not previously met the requirements for that grade or course.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1697 on the principle of limited government. Allowing parents the freedom to exercise control over their child's advancement as proposed by this bill would help ensure the students are truly ready for progression.
