Fiscal Notes

Estimated Two¬≠-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for SB1697, As Introduced : a negative impact of ($200,000) through the biennium ending August 31, 2023.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

Bill Analysis

SB 1697 would allow parents or legal guardians the option of letting their children repeat a grade or certain courses if the child has not previously met the requirements for that grade or course.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1697 on the principle of limited government. Allowing parents the freedom to exercise control over their child's advancement as proposed by this bill would help ensure the students are truly ready for progression.
