Relating to eliminating certain reporting and posting requirements for public institutions of higher education and other state agencies and the requirement for a plan by certain school districts to increase enrollment in public institutions of higher education.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 1677 would limit certain data collection and reporting requirements for institutions of higher education in Texas. If it is determined that the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has access to this information from alternative means, the board would be able to eliminate the reporting requirement for that data or information.
Additionally, the bill would repeal a provision of education code requiring certain school districts with a low percentage of students enrolling in higher institutions after high school to create a plan to increase enrollment in higher education.
Texas Action is neutral toward SB 1677.
