Bill Analysis

SB 1602 would require auto insurers to provide a notice to an insured who has failed or refused to cooperate with an insurer in the investigation, settlement, or defense of a claim or action that failure to cooperate would result in cancellation of their policy. If the named insured refuses or fails to cooperate after receiving the written notice, the insurer would be prohibited from renewing the private passenger automobile insurance policy.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 1602 does not appear to conflict with our liberty principles and we remain neutral.
