Bill Caption

Relating to required written consent of a physician, intern, or resident of an educational institution before directly or indirectly performing or participating in an elective abortion.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1439 would prevent a physician, intern, or resident of an educational institution from being scheduled for or assigned to duties involving directly or indirectly performing or participating in an elective abortion unless they first consent in writing to perform or participate in the elective abortion.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While we generally do not take positions on legislation regarding abortion, SB 1439 promotes individual liberty and personal responsibility by ensuring that persons in an instructional program provide consent to participate in an abortion before being required to do so.
