Bill Analysis

SB 1355 would create Brazoria County Municipal Utility District No. 83 to encompass approximately 438 acres of land located within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Manvel. SB 1355 would establish the initial board of directors of this district and would require that an election be held for future directors. This district would provide for the necessary water, sewer, drainage, and road facilities needed for residential purposes and would grant the district the authority to impose a tax and have limited power of eminent domain.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Due to the local nature of this bill and because the people of the district would have the ability to vote on whether or not to fund extra local debt and impose taxes, Texas Action is neutral on SB 1355.
