The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

Bill Analysis

SB 1267 would require The State Board for Educator Certification to develop and publish a comprehensive clearinghouse of information regarding continuing education and training requirements of educators and other school personnel.

Among other things, SB 1267 would stipulate that only a school district’s cybersecurity coordinator is required to complete cybersecurity training on an annual basis. Any other school district employee required to complete the cybersecurity training would be required to complete the training as determined by the district, in consultation with the district’s cybersecurity coordinator.

The bill would abolish or modify certain continuing education requirements with the goal of streamlining these requirements, eliminating duplicate requirements, and providing greater flexibility to educators in the fulfillment of their continuing education requirements.
