Bill Caption

Relating to substitutes for hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants applicable to commercial or residential buildings or construction.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1210 would ensure that a building code may not prohibit the use of a substitute refrigerant authorized for use by the EPA.

Federal and state laws have made efforts to limit the use of HFC refrigerants, yet many building codes have not been updated to allow the use of substitute refrigerants. SB 1210 would allow the use of substitute refrigerants that have been authorized for use by the EPA.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1210 as it increases individual liberty and limits government by ensuring that building codes to not unnecessarily hamper the use of alternative refrigerants.
