SB 1112 would prohibit any election official from suspending existing requirements for accepting early voting ballots by mail. An election official who violates the prohibition would commit a Class A misdemeanor criminal offense.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1112 because it espouses the limited government and individual liberty principles by protecting Texas elections. SB 1112 would add additional security to Texas elections by restricting officials from arbitrarily suspending early voting ballot requirements and punishing officials who do so. The requirements, such as signature and registration verification, are crucial to ballot integrity. SB 1112 uplifts our individual liberty and limited government principles.
