Bill Analysis

HB 956 would repeal the criminal offense of bringing a location-restricted knife onto the premises of a business that derives the majority of its income from the sale of alcohol, an amusement park, or a place of religious worship. The purpose of this bill is to undo the legislature's unintentional criminalization of employees of these entities who use knives for work purposes that technically meet the definition of location-prohibited.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 956 because it would advance individual liberty, personal responsibility, and limited government.
