Bill Analysis

HB 903 would permit a person with legal custody of a minor to enter into a settlement with a person against whom the minor has a claim if the settlement is less than $25,000 and the person files an affidavit stating that the minor will be fully compensated for the maximum amount allowable. It would create rules for the payment and holding of money transferred in such settlements. A person acting in good faith on behalf of a minor for the settlement of claims would not be able to be held liable for doing so.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 903 because it is administrative in nature with no apparent connection to our liberty principles.
