Bill Caption

Relating to certain increases in benefits under the firefighters' relief and retirement fund in certain municipalities.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 805 would exempt members of the Houston Firefighters' Relief and Retirement Fund who retired when they were 48 or older from recent legislative changes to firefighter retirement benefits. Without this bill, firefighters who retired before the age 55 under previous rules would have to wait until they are 55 to get any kind of cost of living benefit increases.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 805.
