Bill Analysis

Among other things, HB 764 would revise high school graduation requirements by phasing out certain end of course assessments and replacing those assessments with certain nationally recognized assessments such as SAT, ACT, PSAT, and others. The bill would also require the commissioner to contract with a vendor to administer the new assessment instrument. Districts would be required to distribute the results to each district campus and provide written notice to the student and student's parent or guardian of the student’s results. The bill would also eliminate some mandatory testing for lower grades.
