Relating to the use of certain data collected by the Texas Workforce Commission to determine general prevailing wage rates for certain public work contracts.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 633 would allow projects in counties with a population of not more than one million, to use date compiled but the Texas Workforce Commission's Labor Market and Career Information Department to determine the prevailing wages of public contracts. This state data would only be able to be used if there was no data available through the Office of Management and Budget in the Standard Occupational Classification system.
Texas Action supports HB 633 which may lead to savings for taxpayers.
