Estimated Two­year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB605, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted : an impact of $0 through the biennium ending August 31, 2023. The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. 

Bill Analysis

HB 605 would require that each school district adopt a healthy and safe school water plan which would include provisions for periodic testing for lead in school water sources and reducing exposure to elevated levels of lead in school water sources.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is opposed to HB 605 on the principle of limited government. While we support safe water consumption is public schools, water districts are conducting these tests already, so it is unnecessary to require this test of all school districts throughout the state.
