Bill Analysis

HB 54 prohibits a law enforcement agency from authorizing a person to accompany and film a peace officer acting in the line of duty for the purpose of producing a reality television program.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is opposed to HB 54 which would infringe on the principles of limited government and individual liberty. Content-based discrimination of this nature is of dubious constitutionality and should be avoided.
