Relating to the transfer of certain state property from the Department of Public Safety to the City of Eagle Pass.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 4667 would transfer a property belonging to the Texas Department of Public Safety to the city of Eagle Pass to be used for a purpose that benefits the public interest. This bill would require the City of Eagle Pass to enter into an agreement with Maverick County for mutual use of the land for 25 years. If the City of Eagle Pass fails to use the property for a purpose that benefits the public interest, ownership of the property would revert to the state.
According to the bill author's background statement, the purpose of this bill is to transfer a building in the possession of DPS to the City of Eagle Pass to be used as a police substation.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 4667 which does not affect our liberty principles.
