Fiscal Notes

Estimated Two-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB 4335, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted: an impact of $0 through the biennium ending August 31, 2023.

The bill would have a negative impact of ($6,891,680) to the General RevenueDedicated Statewide Electronic Filing System Account 5157 through the biennium ending August 31, 2023.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

Bill Analysis

HB 4335 would require the Texas Judicial Council to gather case-level information and data from courts in Texas, rather than simply aggregate data.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 4335 as it does not significantly affect any of our Liberty Principles. While expanded data collection by a state agency requires higher spending, lawmakers having access to more data can lead to cost-cutting policy changes in the future.
