Bill Analysis

HB 4257 would add to the list of plans to be implemented for the integration of trauma-informed practices a plan for providing support to students, teachers, and district staff in the event of a crisis, including through methods such as psychological first aid and referrals to community providers for mental health services.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is opposed to HB 4257. Expanding mental health services in public schools is not within the proper role of state government.
