Bill Analysis

HB 4174 would allow the disclosure of video evidence of a crime that resulted in the death of a person to the deceased person’s family. This disclosure to the family is not considered a voluntary disclosure which would make it available to the public, and does not waive the right to assert in the future that the information is excepted from required disclosure.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral toward HB 4174 which does not appear to affect our liberty principles, although it does appear to represent good public policy.
