Bill Caption

Relating to the establishment of the small business assistance disaster recovery program.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 4067 would require the Office of Small Business Assistance to create and administer a disaster recovery assistance program for small businesses, to aid small businesses with general tax and finance information, referrals to lawyers, and information regarding or assistance securing state and federal funding.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action opposes HB 4067 because it violates the limited government and personal responsibility principles. It is up to small business owners to take advantage of disaster recovery assistance programs, the state should not need to hold their hand through this process. A better way for the state to help would be to substantially reduce regulations, including taxes, substantial permit application processes and fees, and most occupational licensing.
