Bill Analysis

HB 379 would make a defendant convicted of online sexual solicitation of a minor (to meet with another person including the defendant) ineligible for parole until the defendant has served the lesser of half of their sentence or 30 years in prison.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 379 as it does not touch directly upon any of our Liberty Principles. As long as parole eligibility rules remain proportional to the crime, they do not significantly affect individual liberty.
