Bill Caption

Relating to the use of municipal hotel occupancy tax revenue by certain municipalities.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 3682 is a bracketed bill which would allow the City of Baytown to use revenue from the municipal hotel occupancy tax for the promotion of tourism by the enhancement and upgrading of an existing sports facility or field.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action opposes HB 3682 which expands the use of a hotel occupancy tax for economic development purposes for the benefit of private businesses. This is inconsistent with the principles of limited government and free markets.
