Bill Caption

Relating to establishing the Texas Commission on Community College Finance.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 3351 would establish a commission on community college finance and outlines the composition of its membership.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Per the bill analysis, the purpose of the Texas Commission on Community College Finance, established through HB 3351,  would be to make "recommendations for consideration by the 88th Texas Legislature for establishing a state funding formula and funding levels sufficient for sustaining viable community college education and training offerings throughout the state."

Since we do not know what the findings of this commission will be, whether it be to recommend an increase or decrease in funding for these colleges, we remain neutral on HB 3351. Should future legislation based on the findings of this commission propose significant funding increases, we would likely be in opposition.
