Bill Analysis

HB 3340 would prohibit the destruction of a dangerous dog within 10 days after the order for destruction is issued or during the pendency of an appeal for a dog's destruction. The purpose of this bill is to allow an owner time to appeal an order for destruction of the owner's dog, and to allow the appeals process to be adjudicated before the order is carried out.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 3340 because it espouses the property rights, individual liberty, and limited government principles.  This bill would ensure that the owner of a dog declared dangerous and ordered for destruction has a chance to appeal the order before the dog is destroyed.
