Bill Caption

Relating to the use of the compensatory education allotment for programs that build certain social and emotional skills.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 332 would allow the compensatory education allotment to provide programs that build skills related to managing emotion, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and making responsible decisions.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is opposed to HB 332 on the principle of limited government. This use of fund is inconsistent with the purpose of the compensatory education allotment and inconsistent with the purpose of public education in general. Texas public schools should focus on academics, not on promoting social values.
