Relating to requiring the disclosure of fees charged for the sale of concert and other event tickets.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 3141 would require a person who sells or resells tickets for a public event to disclose all fees charged in connection with the sale of a ticket for the event. Fees for event tickets sold on a ticket website must be posted on the website in a location easily accessible by potential ticket purchasers.
Texas Action opposes HB 3141 which violates the limited government and free market principles. A person buying a ticket online will see and agree to the full price of the ticket at checkout prior to submitting final approval for the charge. It is not necessary for the state to mandate that ticket fees be disclosed at an earlier point in the process.
