Bill Caption

Relating to the eligibility of the Professional Bull Riders World Finals for funding under the Major Events Reimbursement Program.

Fiscal Notes

The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time. The fiscal impact would depend on the number and size of events covered under the bill.

Bill Analysis

HB 3023 would qualify a number of additional events for funding under the Major Events Reimbursement Program including: the Professional Bull Riders World Finals, Formula One United States Grand Prix, the Ladies Professional Golf Association Championship tournament, the National Hot Rod Association Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex, the Professional Golfers Association Championship, the Ryder Cup, the Senior Professional Golfers Association Championship and the South by Southwest Conference and Festivals.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is opposed to HB 3023 because it violates limited government and free market principles. This bill would add more events to the reimbursement program, through which it may receive public funds to subsidize events. A more limited government approach would be to eliminate the fund altogether and increase economic prosperity through lower spending and taxes, and less regulation.
