Bill Analysis

HB 2941 would update the tax code relating to appointment of members of appraisal review boards (ARB) and creating a uniform system throughout the state. The bill would require that all ARB members be appointed by the local administrative district judge. Furthermore, HB 2941 would no longer allow removal of a board member by majority vote of the board of directors, but instead make the local administrative judge or the judge's designee the governing authority for removal of an ARB member.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports 2941 which would make ARBs less biased in favor of the government which would benefit taxpayers who protest the County Appraisal District's valuation of their property for tax purposes.
