Bill Analysis

HB 2860 would require a county, city, or independent school district that holds an election and maintains a website to publicly post the results of each election, including the total number of votes cast, and the total number of votes cast for each candidate or for or against each measure.

HB 2860 would also require a county, city, or independent school district that holds an election and maintains a website to publicly post the date of the election, all the measures on the ballot and all polling locations at least 21 days before the election.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 2860 would provide greater accessibility to local election result information thereby increasing government transparency. Transparency in government is a criteria for limited government, therefore, Texas Action supports HB 2860.
