Bill Analysis

HB 2769 would require that, in adopting the essential knowledge and skills for the technology applications curriculum for kindergarten through grade 12, the State Board of Education to adopt essential knowledge and skills that include coding for video games.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is opposed to HB 2769 on the principle of limited government. Video game coding is not an essential knowledge or skill and should not be considered to be so in Texas public schools.
