Bill Caption

Relating to the dates a retail fireworks permit holder may sell fireworks to the public.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 2569 would extend by one day the timeframe for which a retail fireworks permit holder is allowed to sell fireworks for Independence Day. Fireworks stands currently must close at midnight on July 4th but would be allowed to stay open until midnight on July 5th under the provisions of HB 2569.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 2569 supports individual liberty, limited government, and free markets by extending the amount of time during which fireworks may be sold during the Independence Day fireworks selling season. While we support HB 2569, it would be better for the legislature to simply end all restrictions on the timeframe during which fireworks may be sold in this state.
