Bill Caption

Relating to prohibited state contracts with companies that discriminate against the firearm or ammunition industries.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 2558 would prohibit any government entity from entering into a contract with a private business which discriminates against the firearms industry.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 2558 on the principles of individual liberty and free market. The firearm industry is unique in that it provides access to the exercise of a constitutional right. As such, the government ought to have no part in aiding private efforts to restrict access to firearms by entering into contracts with such entities.
