Bill Caption

Relating to matters regarding educators, including the composition of the State Board for Educator Certification, the issuance of certain sanctions by the board, and requiring a school district to notify a teacher regarding the submission of certain complaints to the board.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 2519 would require at least two of the members of the State Board for Educator Certification be from a small or mid-size school district. Additionally, the bill stipulates the means by which the board can suspend a teacher's certification, and how they shall be notified of their suspension, as well as the method of notification of a resignation from employment to be given by an educator.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral toward HB 2519 which governs administrative processes that do not appear to affect our liberty principles.
