Bill Analysis

HB 2049 would require the Texas Board of Nursing, in order to mitigate a nursing workforce shortage during a state of disaster, to waive a requirement that a person pay a fee or complete any required continuing education to remove the person's license from inactive status if the license has been inactive for less than for years.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 2049 allows former nurses to reactivate their licenses during pandemics without paying a fee or completing any continuing education. Therefore, HB 2049 benefits the liberty principles of individual liberty, the free market and limited government. Texas Action supports HB 2049.
