Relating to safety requirements for amusement ride operators.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 205 creates definitions for dispatchers and ride operators with regards to water amusement parks. The bill mandates that ride operators must be at least 16 and be trained in the operation of the ride they are operating. The bill would also stipulate that rider operators cannot operate two or more rides simultaneously unless the ride operate serves as a dispatcher for adjacent or proximate elevated waterslide amusement rides. The bill also prohibits a ride operator from operating a ride while intoxicated.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 205. The regulations considered by this bill are not so onerous as to conflict with our liberty principles.
