Bill Caption

Relating to prohibiting certain telemarketing calls by a credit access business.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 1916 would prohibit a credit access business, or a representative thereof, from making telemarketing calls to a consumer who appears on the no-call list unless the credit access business is party to a contract with the consumer or was party to a contract with the consumer within the previous year.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 1916 which appears to simply close a loophole that currently allows credit access companies to make telemarking calls to people who have opted in to the no-call list.
