Bill Analysis

HB 1863 would require the Department of Transportation to issue a specialty license plate that includes the words "Make-A-Wish" and the blue Make-A-Wish logo. The department would consult with the Central and South Texas Chapter of Make-A-Wish to design the plate.

After deduction of the department's administrative costs, the remainder of the fee will be deposited to the credit of an account that may only be used by the Health and Human Services Commission to make grants to a nonprofit organization that has a history of granting wishes for children diagnosed with a critical illness for the purpose of granting those wishes.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 1863.
