Bill Caption

Relating to notice of the cash price of certain health care services by certain hospitals.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 1490 would require hospitals to disclose their cash price for each health care service regularly provided by the hospital. This must be made by posting the prices on the Internet website of the hospital, or if the hospital does not have an Internet website by providing the prices in writing on request to any person.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 1490 makes a forward stride for transparency within the medical system. It is a benefit to individual liberty, free market, and personal responsibility. We recommend amending the bill to require this disclosure as part of the intake process for patients as well.
